Greensboro native Dexter Jordan is on fire, literally. This past weekend, he dropped "
NDOTO"; his sophomore effort following the critically acclaimed debut, "
Innovation EP". The title fits the project perfectly; with instrumentals that capture the essence of perhaps what he dreams about on a daily basis. The project starts off with "
Saturday", a jazz/neo soul melody that sums up pretty much what we all would love to do when we have a weekend off.
"
Snow" is a very nostalgic yet powerful song, reminding us that sometimes; the simplest things makes us happy and that black lives still matter. Other cuts like "
Lazy",
Green Moon" and "
Separate the Right from the Wrong" are great; but my two favorites that really stand out on this project are "
Hennessy" and the Nirvana cover "
Dumb". It shows maturity and range I haven't seen in a R&B singer in a while; reminiscent to KiD CuDi's cover "
Where Did You Sleep Last Night". "
NDOTO" holds nothing back and will go down as a crowd pleaser. Dexter Jordan ensures us that he is living his dreams; and his fans (including me lol) will be happy to join the ride,
